This month in history (13 years ago)The university’s State Outreach Office reported that an Advisory Committee had selected 31 faculty to participate in a five-day traveling seminar of the state in May, 1999. Called the Michigan Road Scholars tour, it was planned to expose participants to the state’s economy, government and politics, culture, educational systems, health and social issues, history and geography. The goal was to increase mutual knowledge and understanding between the university and the people and communities of the state. The program continues, and 30 participants have been accepted for the 2012 tour. —The University Record and Dana Sitzler, community relations manager, Office of the Vice President for Government Relations Have a campus memory to share?
