U-M Health System projects to improve energy efficiency

A $3 million project for new occupancy sensors and a $1.3 million air handler upgrade project will improve energy efficiency at the U-M Health System's University Hospital.

The two projects were approved Thursday by the Board of Regents.

University endowment valued at $10 billion in FY 2015

The University of Michigan's long-term investment strategy continues to provide the university with a steady stream of endowment funding, with fiscal year 2015 distributions increasing to $294.5 million as the total value of the endowment rose to $10 billion.

For the second year in a row, University of Michigan donors have given more than $400 million in cash and pledge payments. In addition, more donors made gifts to the university than ever before in its history — 129,600 individual donors in all.

U-M plans new $46 million health center in Scio Township

The U-M Health System plans to build a new health center to provide expanded clinics, primary and specialty care and other health care services in the west Ann Arbor area.

The $46 million project, approved Thursday by the Board of Regents, will be built in Scio Township on Little Lake Drive, just west of Ann Arbor.

President Mark Schlissel updated the Board of Regents on Thursday about the university's diversity strategic planning process and said he would host a luncheon meeting this fall to bring the planning process into sharper focus.

Ryder Diggs to chair Board of Regents; Bernstein named vice chair

Regent Shauna Ryder Diggs will serve as the next chair of the Board of Regents for a one-year term beginning July 1. Regent Mark Bernstein was named vice chair when the appointments were announced Thursday by Regent Katherine White at the board's monthly meeting.

Henry Russel lecturer, awardees named for 2016

David E. Meyer, known as one of the most famous psychologists living today, has been selected as the 2016 Henry Russel Lecturer. It is one of the university's highest honors for a senior member of its active faculty.
