    Regent Ron Weiser of Ann Arbor will take over as chair of the Board of Regents beginning Jan. 1. Regent Denise Ilitch of Bingham Farms will serve as vice chair.

    New Central Campus building to include innovative classrooms

    The Board of Regents approved design plans Thursday for a new 100,000-square-foot classroom building on Central Campus that will serve up to 10,000 students each day.

    Thomas A. Baird, a longtime U-M fundraiser, has been named the university’s next vice president for development. His appointment is effective Jan. 1.

    Jeffries’ $33M gift dedicated to student support at Law School

    Lisa and Christopher Jeffries have committed $33 million to the Law School, with the gift’s entirety dedicated to student support.  The school’s South Hall will be renamed Jeffries Hall.

    Democrats Jordan Acker and Paul Brown have been elected to eight-year terms on the Board of Regents, replacing Republicans Regent Andrea Fischer Newman and Regent Andrew Richner.
