    Huei Peng, Roger L. McCarthy Professor of Mechanical Engineering, died Nov. 17. Peng joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering in 1993 and served as the director of Mcity from 2016-21.

    Regent Emerita Veronica Latta Smith, died peacefully at her Grosse Ile, Michigan, home Nov. 13. She was 97. In 1984, she was elected to the Board of Regents, and was known as the “Students’ Regent.”

    William R. Solomon, professor emeritus of internal medicine, died peacefully the morning of Nov. 6. He combined his love of botany and science by specializing in internal medicine at U-M until he retired in 2012.
