President Mary Sue Coleman announced in 2007 a five-year, $30 million initiative to hire 100 tenure-track junior faculty members to increase the university’s focus on teaching and research across disciplines.

Elections set for four SACUA seats, secretary
The Senate Assembly will fill three seats on the Senate Advisory Committee on University Affairs, and the University Senate is scheduled to elect a secretary at meetings March 17.

Campuswide reception for President Coleman set for March 14
Faculty, staff and students are invited to a campuswide “thank you” reception for President Mary Sue Coleman, who is retiring in July. The appreciation will be from 3-5 p.m. Friday in the Rogel Ballroom of the Michigan Union. Actor Jeff Daniels will serve as emcee.

Science students look back on being mentored by the president
The U-M Mentorship Program matches several incoming freshman with a peer mentor and a faculty or staff member for their first semester on campus. President Mary Sue Coleman has volunteered as a faculty mentor through the program for the last 10 years.
