The U-M Alumni Association will launch a five-year, $50 million campaign as part of the university’s Victors For Michigan campaign.

A $50 million gift from Richard and Susan Rogel will support Medical School scholarships, the Center for Chinese Studies and future university initiatives. Richard Rogel also will take a leadership role in the Victors for Michigan campaign.

The public phase of the university’s Victors for Michigan campaign opens Friday as the university community and the public are invited to a series of communitywide events at Ingalls Mall and Hill Auditorium starting at 5 p.m.

The historic launch next month of the university’s boldest-ever capital campaign and the celebration of its bicentennial in 2017 were among the key messages of President Mary Sue Coleman’s annual Leadership Breakfast address.

President Mary Sue Coleman and her husband, Kenneth, are giving $1 million toward scholarships for U-M undergraduate and graduate students to support international study, internships, service work and other opportunities.
