   Senate Assembly passes measures on CSG votes, Israel divestment

   The faculty’s Senate Assembly has passed resolutions calling on U-M leadership to protect students’ free speech, and to divest from companies investing in Israel’s military campaign in Gaza.

   U-M statement on CSG resolutions, ongoing campus tensions

   President Santa J. Ono said issues raised by Middle East violence are “ripping our community apart,” and that U-M will not allow future votes on two related student government resolutions.

   The university has canceled the portion of a student election that included two resolutions regarding U-M’s position on violence in Israel and the Gaza Strip, following concerns about the integrity of the voting process.
