A series of housekeeping revisions to the Board of Regents’ Bylaws have been proposed and are being posted for public comment before consideration at the board’s Dec. 5 meeting. Comments are due Nov. 27.

Regents may consider institutional neutrality bylaw
U-M’s administration has been asked to prepare a Regents’ Bylaw that, if approved by the board, would codify a position of institutional neutrality on political or social issues not directly connected to internal university functions.

Regents approve overhaul of dismissal policies for tenured faculty
The Board of Regents have revised two Regents’ Bylaws to streamline policies governing the dismissal of tenured faculty. Changes affect procedures for dismissal, demotion or terminal appointment, and severance pay.
