   Obituary — Charles Beck

   Charles B. Beck, professor emeritus of botany, died Feb. 26 at the age of 96. In 1955, he accepted a faculty position at U-M, ultimately becoming chairman of the Department of Botany.

   Project measures crowd response at home football games

   U-M geologist Ben van der Pluijm is using a portable seismometer to measure crowd vibrations at Michigan Stadium during football games in a project he calls Michigan Shake.
