Grant funds available to solve worksite ergonomic issues

Ergonomics awareness groups from all three U-M campuses and Michigan Medicine have again partnered to offer grant funds to departments and units looking to solve worksite ergonomics issues.

Any employee can apply on behalf of their area. Submissions are encouraged by Oct. 31.

More than a dozen university areas were recognized with MHealthy Ergonomics Department Awards for implementing ergonomic solutions in their workplaces.

Winning areas have reduced risk factors and reduced or prevented employee discomfort by adding or modifying equipment or redesigning work processes.

Nominations are now being accepted for departments and units that have reduced ergonomic risk factors by adding new equipment, modifying equipment or redesigning work processes.

U-M faculty or staff can submit nominations for the annual MHealthy Ergonomics Awards for Departments through March 31.

Funding available to solve worksite ergonomic issues

In recognition of October as National Ergonomics Month, the university has kicked off its 2016 Ergonomics Grant Program.

University departments and units are encouraged to apply by Oct. 31 to receive up to $5,000 in grant funds to purchase equipment or redesign work processes to solve ergonomic issues.

Nominees sought for department, employee Ergonomics Awards

MHealthy is accepting nominations for its eighth annual Ergonomics Awards, given to university units and employees that have implemented ergonomic solutions in the workplace.

Ergonomics is the science of fitting the work­place to the worker, often resulting in the promotion of safety, health, productivity and job satisfaction.
