   Anthony Kolenic named director of Matthaei-Nichols

   Anthony J. Kolenic will become director of the Matthaei Botanical Gardens and Nichols Arboretum. Kolenic’s five-year appointment is effective March 1, 2021, and he succeeds Bob Grese, who retired in June 2020.

   Arts Initiative announces first round of Exploration Pilot Grants

   Eight Exploration Pilot Grants of between $7,000 to $17,000 have been awarded to staff, faculty and students as part of the presidential Arts Initiative, announced by President Mark Schlissel last fall.

   The School of Information has joined ArtsEngine, becoming the fifth supporting unit of U-M’s interdisciplinary arts integration initiative.

   Nominations sought for UpstART 200 bicentennial project

   The UpstART 200 Bicentennial Planning Committee is looking for up to 200 examples from U-M’s art, design, architecture and cultural collections that will inspire new creative projects.

   Alliance for Arts in Research Universities appoints exec director

   Laurie Baefsky has assumed the role of executive director for the Alliance for the Arts in Research Universities and ArtsEngine.
