“Standing Figure” (1957), a bronze sculpture by Swiss artist Alberto Giacometti, is presented in the U-M Museum of Art Joan and Bob Tisch Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art. Accolades
Dr. Christine C. Nelson, professor of ophthalmology and visual sciences, and professor of surgery, Medical School, recently won the Wendell L. Hughes Lecture Award from the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. She is the first female recipient of the award. Nelson is known for her clinical and surgical practice, and her research. -

U-M ranked No. 8 in size of international student body
The university was ranked No. 8 nationally for the size of its international student body in 2011-12, according to a study showing foreign enrollments grew 5.7 percent nationwide to a record 764,495.

Crisler Center to host 3rd-annual Army-Navy Wheelchair Basketball game
Typical cheers of “Go Blue!” in the Crisler Center will be replaced with chants of “Go Army!” and “Go Navy!” on Nov. 20, as two wheelchair basketball teams representing military veterans take to the court to raise awareness for those with disabilities and to celebrate veterans in the community.
