    Great American Smokeout events support smoke-free campus

    The 35th annual Great American Smokeout (GASO) on Nov. 18 challenges people to quit tobacco for at least 24 hours. GASO Prepare to Quit Events will be held on all U-M campuses to support faculty, staff and students who want to quit tobacco before the university goes smoke-free in July 2011. The events are organized by MHealthy, in collaboration with University Health Service and Rackham Graduate School.

    NCAA Committee on Infractions rules on football case

    The NCAA Committee on Infractions announced Nov. 4 that it has accepted the self-imposed sanctions initiated by U-M during the NCAA Response on May 25, and added an additional year of probation for the football program. The university contested two allegations, and the NCAA report was favorable in each instance.
