    Regents bid Mary Sue farewell … again

    The ZEUS laser

    The laser that will be the most powerful in the United States is preparing to send its first pulses into an experimental target at U-M. ZEUS — for Zetawatt-Equivalent Ultrashort pulse laser System — will explore the physics of the quantum universe as well as outer space, and is expected to contribute to new technologies in medicine, electronics and national security. In this video, faculty members in the College of Engineering discuss how the Center for Ultrafast Optical Science, which houses ZEUS, may be used and why it will be a destination for researchers studying extreme plasmas around the U.S. and internationally.

    Dentistry renovation

    The renovation and expansion of the School of Dentistry incorporates the latest developments in patient care, dental education and research into the existing facility. This video explores how the four-year project, known as Blue Renew, has changed the school and what it can offer patients. An open house is scheduled from 2-5 p.m. Sept. 16.

    Record research volume

    U-M reported a record $1.71 billion in research expenditures during fiscal year 2022, fueling innovations to address critical challenges ranging from global health disparities and Great Lakes water quality to firearm violence and driverless vehicle technologies. This video shares highlights of the many research areas undertaken by U-M, which has been ranked No. 1 in research volume among U.S. public universities for 11 consecutive years.
