Copyright discussion
Melissa Levine (left), lead copyright officer for the U-M Library, talks with Karyn Temple Claggett, associate register of copyrights for the Library of Congress and a U-M alumna. Levine participated this week in a Washington, D.C., roundtable discussion hosted by the Copyright Office on mass digitization policy and the issue of “orphan works.” Levine said many historic copyrighted works would be lost without libraries working hard to create depositories for digitized works. Spanish mortar
Read MoreThis bronze mortar, one of four captured guns given to the State of Michigan, was obtained by the Class of 1899 as a gift to the university to serve as a memorial to U-M men who fought in the Spanish-American War.
