Two men reflected in a 3D printer

Veera Sundararaghavan, professor of aerospace engineering in the College of Engineering, and his Ph.D student Michael Pilipchuk are reflected in a 3D printer. To find out how long 3D-printed metal parts are likely to last in the field, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency is providing up to $10.3 million to a team led by U-M. “If PRIME takes off, it’s like giving 3D printing a crystal ball,” Sundararaghavan said.
