The establient of the R. Jamison and Betty Williams Professorship of Engineering in the College of Engineering was approved by the Regents at their March meeting.
“Mr. and Mrs. Williams have generously given and pledged $1.2 million to fund this professorship, which will provide funds to support the teaching and scholarship of a distinguished faculty member in the College,” Dean Peter M. Banks said. “The College is grateful to the generosity and support of Mr. and Mrs. Williams over the years.”
R. Jamison Williams, who received a B.S. from the U-M in 1929, was associated with American Metal Products Co., Detroit, in 1934-66, as sales manager, assistant plant manager, chief engineer, vice president, executive vice president, and president. American Metal Products was acquired by Lear-Siegler Inc. in 1966 and Williams became group vice president. From 1967 until his retirement in 1977, he served as director.
