Warner named University historian

Robert M. Warner, dean emeritus of the School of Information and Library Studies (SILS), has been appointed University Historian.

“I believe the history of The University of Michigan could be in no better hands,” said President James J. Duderstadt as he announced the honorary appointment at the September Regent’s meeting.

Warner is currently chair of the University’s History and Traditions Committee. Before accepting the SILS deanship in 1985, he served as archivist of the United States in 1980–85, and was director of the Michigan Historical Collections in 1966–80.
