Vax Viewer to track COVID-19 vaccination compliance records

The University of Michigan has launched Vax Viewer, a user-friendly tool that allows campus community members to submit and view the status of their COVID-19 vaccination information all in one place.

Vax Viewer will show community members the information they have submitted, the status of those submissions, and links for uploading vaccination information, as well as how to request a vaccination exemption or postponement.

Users of the tool can only see their own information, and Vax Viewer only is being used to collect and view COVID-19 vaccination information.

The tool is simple to use and secure. Just click on the Vax Viewer tile in the COVID-19 collection in Wolverine Access or go to vaxviewer.umich.edu and sign in with U-M weblogin credentials.

“The new tool is intended to help reduce duplicate submissions of vaccination information and to provide transparency to U-M community members regarding where their submitted vaccination information stands in the verification process,” said Robert Ernst, U-M’s chief health officer.

Vax Viewer is available to all students, faculty and staff on the Ann Arbor, Flint and Dearborn campuses, as well as Michigan Medicine. It will not replace the daily symptom checker tool ResponsiBLUE, which may be needed to enter certain buildings or events.

Like ResponsiBLUE, Vax Viewer was developed by Information and Technology Services in partnership with the Campus Health Response Committee and other campus groups.

For students, faculty or staff who are submitting new vaccination information, vaccine submissions uploaded by midnight will not appear in Vax Viewer until 8 a.m. the next day.

Contact the Campus COVID-19 Call Center with questions about Vax Viewer or for assistance submitting information. The call center can be reached at 734-936-7000 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., seven days a week.
