Units list holiday closings, services available

Editor’s Note: The following units have posted closure information for the holiday season. If your unit is not listed, we’ll carry a “catch-up” article in the Dec. 19 issue. Information is due in writing by 5 p.m. Wednesday (Dec. 13).

Information Technology Division

Accounts Office: closed 4:30 p.m. Dec. 22; reopens Jan. 2.

Instructional Technology Lab: closed Dec. 15-Jan. 1; reopens Jan. 2.

Computer Service and Repair Center: closed 4:30 p.m. Dec. 22- Jan. 1; reopens Jan. 2.

Computer Showcase: closed 3 p.m. Dec. 22.-Jan. 1; reopens Jan. 2.

Data Systems Center (DSC): User Services closed 4 p.m. Dec. 22-Dec. 25; reopens 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Dec. 26; closed Jan. 1.

Computer Operations: will be staffed until midnight through Dec. 22 and 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Dec. 26-29. DSC computer will run in unattended mode midnight Dec. 22-midnight Dec. 25, as well as midnight Dec. 29-midnight Jan. 1. See DSC information bulletin for IMS transactions that will be available at these times. All other OM/DSC areas will be closed midnight Dec. 22-Jan. 1; reopen 8 a.m. Jan. 2. Contact DSC User Services, 763-6895, if you have special processing requirements.

Campus Computing Sites: Angell Hall: open 7:30 a.m.-11:30 p.m. Dec. 17-22; closed Dec. 23-25; open 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Dec. 26-29; closed Dec. 30-Jan. 1; open 7:30 a.m.-11:30 p.m. Jan. 2-6; opens at 7:30 a.m. and stays open 24 hours Jan. 7. NUBS: Closes 11:30 p.m. Dec. 22-Dec. 25; open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Dec. 26-29; closed Dec. 30-Jan. 1; opens at 7:30 a.m. and stays open 24 hours Jan. 2. Michigan Union: open 7:30 a.m.-11:30 p.m. Dec. 18-22; closed Dec. 23-Jan. 1; open 7:30 a.m.-11:30 p.m. beginning Jan. 2. School of Education: closed 5 p.m. Dec. 22-Jan. 1; open 7:30 a.m.-9 p.m. beginning Jan. 2.

Payroll Office: closes 5 p.m. Dec. 22; reopens 7:30 a.m. Jan. 2.

Benefits Office: closes 5 p.m. Dec. 22; reopens 7:30 a.m. Jan. 2. 

Center for Middle Eastern and North African Studies: closed Dec. 23-Jan. 2. Regular hours: 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Division of Research Development and Administration: closes 5 p.m. Dec. 22; reopens 8 a.m. Jan. 2. Those who plan to process materials on Dec. 22 are reminded that limited staff may be available. Arrangements should be made with the appropriate project representative well in advance to ensure sufficient time for handling deadline materials.

 Building Services: closed 12:30 a.m. Dec. 22-5 a.m. Jan. 2. Limited services provided for buildings remaining open for special functions or where large number of staff or students are working Dec. 26-29. Emergency services available at all times Dec. 22-Jan. 2. Emergency service requests should be directed to Department of Public Safety, 763-1131. Limited services: restroom cleaning and restocking, corridor cleaning, trash removal. Rubbermaid utility trucks and/or trash barrels with a supply of trash bags will be placed in corridors of open buildings for those who want to discard trash from offices, labs, etc.

Transportation Services and Buses

Transportation Services Office: closed 5 p.m. Dec. 21; reopens Jan. 2. Those who need to rent pool vehicles must make arrangements no later than noon Dec. 20.

Garage: closed at end of afternoon shift Dec. 22; reopens 7 a.m. Jan. 2. Heavy Equipment Garage will be open through day shift Dec. 22. Emergency service calls should be directed to Department of Public Safety (DPS), 763-1131.

Commuter and North Commuter Buses: regular schedules through Dec. 22; service resumes Jan. 2.

Northwood and Bursley Baits Buses: will run on regular published schedule through Dec. 22. Dec. 23-31: Winter Break Schedule for North Campus route begins, with first bus leavingNorthwood V at 7:10 a.m. This service generally runs at 40-minute intervals, with the last bus leaving Central Campus at 12:10 a.m. On Dec. 24 this service will end with departure of the 6:50 p.m. trip to North Campus. Dec. 25 and Jan. 1: no service. Jan. 2: North Campus will be served by North Campus route following Weekend and Holiday Schedule, with last bus leaving Central Campus at midnight. Jan. 2-5: Commuter buses will run on their regular schedule. Jan. 7: regular published service will resume for all bus routes.

Night Owl: service will run through Dec. 21; resumes Jan. 8.

All University buses operating during the holiday recess will be handicap accessible.

Paratransit Transportation: operates through Dec. 21; resumes Jan. 8.

Fuel Stations: in operation throughout holiday season. Baxter Road service station accessible 24 hours per day. Kipke Drive service station accessible by contacting DPS, 763-1131.

 News and Information Services: closes at 5 p.m. Dec. 22 and re-opens at 8 a.m. Jan. 2. If you need assistance during the holiday recess, call the following persons at home: Julie Peterson, 971-0709; Wono Lee, 663-7321; Janet Mendler, 878-6998.

 Public Health Library: open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Dec. 18-21, 8 a.m.-noon Dec. 22. Closed Dec. 23-Jan. 1. Circulation desk closes 15 minutes before library closes.

 Occupational Safety and Environmental Health (OSEH): closes at 4:30 p.m. Dec. 22 and re-opens 7:30 a.m. Jan. 2. OSEH staff will respond to emergencies during the holiday closure period. Contact DPS, 763-1131.

 Mail Service: closed Dec. 25-Jan. 1. Normal collections and deliveries will be made Dec. 22. All mail brought directly to Mail Service for processing before the holiday must arrive by noon Dec. 22. If you want U.S. mail delivered to your building during the closure period, call Mail Service, 764-9227 or 747-2117, by Dec. 19. Do not call the Post Office.

 Purchasing, Stores and Auxiliary

Services:

Facilities, Health Sciences and University Purchasing: closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. Open regular hours Dec. 26-29.

Computer Stores: closes 11:30 a.m. Dec. 22; reopens 7:30 a.m. Jan. 2.

Food Stores: closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1; open 7:30-11:30 a.m. Dec. 26-29; resumes regular hours, 7:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Jan. 2.

University Stores: closed Dec. 25-Jan. 1, hospital orders covered.

Photo and Campus Services: closes noon, Dec. 22; reopens 8 a.m. Jan. 2.

Printing Services and Copy Centers: closed Dec. 25-Jan. 1; reopens 7:30 a.m. Jan. 2.

Property Disposition: closed Dec. 25-Jan. 1; reopens noonJan. 2.

 SafeWalk and NorthWalk Escort Services: NorthWalk is closed and will re-open at 8 p.m. Jan. 16. Hours during January: 8-11:30 p.m. Sunday-Thursday; no weekends. SafeWalk is on exam hours of 8-11:30 p.m. through Thurs. (Dec. 14). It will re-open at 8 p.m. Jan. 16 with temporary hours of 8-11:30 p.m. Sun.-Thurs., no weekends, through January.
