United Way campaign extended 4 days

The University’s United Way campaign, which was scheduled to end last Friday, has been extended until noon Thursday (Nov. 4).

Peter Pellerito, the U-M’s campaign adviser, said employee response to the campaign has been excellent. Fifty-three of 180 University units had gone over their goals by early last week. “That’s very encouraging for the campaign committee,” Pellerito added.

As of Oct. 22, employees and retirees had donated or pledged $670,614, or about 71 percent of the University’s $950,000 goal.

“The goal was up this year, and we’ve tried to compress the campaign as much as possible. Traditionally University employees contribute more willingly and frequently at the end of a pay period,” Pellerito said.

He had also heard from several solicitors on the Central and Medical campuses who said they were still contacting employees who wanted to contribute.
