United Parcel Service rates, services change

United Parcel Service (UPS) has announced new rates and services, effective today (Feb. 15).

Rates

—Domestic Ground service for commercial deliveries will increase by 3.8 percent and residential deliveries will increase by 7.4 percent.

—Next Day Air Packages will increase by 4.9 percent.

—Next Day Air Letter will increase from $10 to $10.50 within the 48 contiguous states.

—Second Day Air Package rates will increase by 5.9 percent.

—Second Day Air Letter will increase from $5 to $5.50.

—New rates and additional zones have been added for Next Day Air service to rural Alaska:

—Call Tags will increase to $2.

—Hazardous Materials (special fee) will increase to $6.

New Services

—UPS 3-Day Select guarantees delivery within three business days throughout the 48 contiguous states. It also provides advance tracking service, including verification of delivery on the day of delivery.

—UPS Prepaid Letter offers the option of purchasing Next Day Air Letter and/or Second Day Air Letter (envelopes) service in advance from University Mail Service. Units will receive service unit billings at the time the envelopes are requested. Order by using Mail Service requisition forms entering either Next Day Air Letter or Second Day Air Letter Prepaid.

—Total Track is a new tracking system that provides the capability of same-day delivery information on all Next Day, Second Day, 3-Day Select and Ground Trac packages. The toll free number for tracking information is 1-800-457-4022.
