Ulaby elected to NAE
Fawwaz T. Ulaby, the R. Jamison and Betty Williams Professor of Engineering, is one of 77 new members elected to the National Academy of Engineering. Election to the Academy is one of the highest honors an American scientist or engineer can receive.
Ulaby is internationally known for his research on the use of spaceborne imaging radar systems for monitoring the earth’s environment and natural resources. He was recognized by the Academy “for contributions to the science and technology of radar remote sensing and its applications.”
Ulaby is director of the U-M NASA Center for Space Terahertz Technology and the U-M Radiation Laboratory. He received his B.S. in physics from the American University in Beirut, Lebanon, and his M.S.E.E. and Ph.D. from the University of Texas, Austin.
Ulaby is the author of five books on remote sensing, contributor to several others and the author of more than 400 scientific articles.
