U-M is out for blood

The battle between U-M and Ohio State University begins weeks before their annual rivalry on the football field. For 15 years, the Wolverines and Buckeyes have battled for “blood” in a two-week, friendly blood drive competition, sponsored by Alpha Phi Omega service fraternity and the American Red Cross Blood Service Region. This year’s drive begins Mon. (Nov. 11) and runs through Nov. 22. Each year the university that collects the most blood donations is awarded the distinctive “Blood Drop” trophy during halftime of the U-M vs. OSU football game.

Donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh 110 pounds or more and be in good general health. This year’s winner will be announced on Nov. 23, at the U-M vs. OSU football game in Columbus. To make an appointment to donate blood, call 647-7747.
