Eric Barritt will serve as head of development and alumni relations at the U-M Health System, effective June 8. His appointment was approved Thursday by the Board of Regents.

As associate vice president for medical development and alumni relations, Barritt will serve as the chief development officer for the Health System. The position carries the responsibility for planning, implementing and managing all development and alumni relations programs for all components of UMHS.

He will report jointly to Executive Vice President for Medical Affairs Marschall Runge and Vice President for Development Jerry A. May.

Barritt is no stranger to U-M or to health care fundraising. He earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees from U-M and worked in development for the university from 1999 through 2006.

He has served as corporate vice president of development and campaigns at the Detroit Medical Center, and for the past four years has been vice president of development, alumni and community engagement at Oakland University.
