Incoming Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Robert Kasdin (right) helps Chandler W. Matthews unwrap his farewell gift at last week’s Regents’ meeting. Matthews has held the post on an interim basis since Jan. 1997, after being called back from his first retirement. ‘We all love Chandler,’ said President Lee C. Bollinger. ‘He’s the most lovable person in the administration . . . and looks at the rest of us with bemusement. He’s just the sweetest possible man to work with. . . . We are grateful to you for your service to this institution for a long, long, long time.” Noting that it was nice to be asked back, Matthews thanked his staff for keeping him ‘from getting into serious trouble.’ Matthews also received a framed resolution from the Regents.
