Commencement exercises scheduled
Spring Commencement ceremonies, 10 a.m. May 4, Michigan Stadium
Tickets for spring commencement will be distributed 8 a.m.–5 p.m. April 29–May 2 at the box office in the lobby of Hill Auditorium.
Bachelor’s degree recipients are eligible for up to eight tickets; master’s and doctoral degree recipients, including those participating in the graduate exercises on May 3, for up to four. Identification must be presented.
Although tickets have assigned section, row and seat numbers, ticket packets will be distributed randomly to graduates.
Extra tickets, if available, will be distributed to graduates and candidates on a first-come, first-served basis 8 a.m. –noon on May 3 at the box office in Hill Auditorium lobby.
Arrival time and entrance points for students and guests
Families and guests should enter the Stadium through Gates 2, 9 and 10 beginning at 8:30 a.m. and are asked to be seated by 9:30 a.m.
All students participating in Spring Commencement should enter the Stadium beginning at 8:30 a.m. LS&A graduates and candidates should enter through Gate 8. All other graduates and candidates should enter through Gate 3 and proceed to the graduate gathering area near the press box.
The program will begin with a procession at 9:30 a.m. Marshals will assist graduates and candidates in lining up. They will be seated based on the unit from which they are receiving their degree.
Assistance for those with disabilities
Individuals with disabilities, both graduates and guests, should call 998-6037 no later than May 1 to receive information about entry into Michigan Stadium and available seating locations.
A sign language interpreter will be present at the ceremonies and a seating area has been designated for those with hearing impairments. Graduates or candidates who wish to sit in this area, or who have family members or guests to be seated there , should make that request when they pick up their tickets.
Parking for those with disabilities will be available in a small lot on Keech Street across from Gate 9. Only vehicles displaying a valid handicapped parking permit may park there.
Off-site parking
The Ann Arbor Transit Authority will run special shuttle buses to Michigan Stadium from several local sites. Shuttle schedules will be available during ticket distribution.
Stadium policy on prohibited items
In keeping with Michigan Stadium policy, the following items are prohibited inside the gates: coolers, beverages, food, camcorder cases, backpacks, signs, banners, balloons, balls, large camera bags and items mounted on poles.

Tickets
Up to six tickets per graduate/candidate will be distributed 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m. April 30–May 1 in the Rackham Building Lobby. Identification must be presented.
If available, extra tickets will be distributed to graduates/candidates on a first-come, first-serve basis 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m. May 2 at the reception desk, Room 1004, Rackham Building.
Assembly (fair weather)
Graduates/candidates will gather in the Lydia Mendelssohn Theatre no later than 2:15 p.m. to participate in the academic procession to Hill Auditorium. Faculty marshals will help students line up.
Assembly (inclement weather)
Graduate/candidates should proceed directly to Hill (doors will open at 2 p.m.), where marshals will help with seating.
Arrival time for guests
Families and guests should enter Hill through the front and side lobby doors and should be seated by 2:45 p.m. Doors will open at 2 p.m.
Reception
All participating graduates/candidates and their guests are invited to a reception following the exercises on the second floor of the Rackham Building.
Assistance for those with disabilities
Students and guests with disabilities may be dropped off at the accessible entrance to Hill Auditorium, on the corner of
North University and Thayer streets. Ushers will be available to help with accessible seating and to give directions to accessible restrooms.
An area has been set aside for those with hearing impairments and a sign language interpreter will be present.
Graduates/candidates who use wheelchairs or might otherwise have difficulty traversing the steps to the stage should call 998-6042 for special arrangements.

Division of Kinesiology, 6 p.m. Friday, May 3, Hill Auditorium. U-M alumna Carrie Davis Meek, U.S. Congress woman from the 17th District, Florida, will speak.
Business School, 6 p.m. Friday, May 3, Crisler Arena. Edward McCracken, chairman and CEO of Silicon Graphics Inc., will speak.
School of Public Health, 7:30 p.m. May 3, Rackham Auditorium. Jonathan Mann, the Francois-Xavier Bagnoud Professor of Health and Human Rights at the Harvard School of Public Health, will speak.
School of Natural Resources and Environment, 1 p.m. May 4 at Rackham Auditorium. U.S. Rep. Lynn Rivers will deliver the keynote address to approximately 150 graduates.
School of Social Work, 1 p.m. May 4, Mendelssohn Theatre. Approximately 75 graduates expect their degrees.
School of Nursing, 1:30 p.m. May 4, Power Center for the Performing Arts. Linda R. Cronenwett, director of pro fessional nursing and associate research professor at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., will speak on “Honoring Transitions.”
School of Public Policy, 4 p.m. May 4, Rackham Auditorium. Approximately 65 candidates expect their degrees.
School of Education, 3:30 p.m. May 4, Hill Auditorium. Patricia Allbjerg Graham, president of the Spencer Founda tion and the Charles Warren Professor of the History of American Education at Harvard University, will speak.
College of Engineering, 5 p.m. May 4, Crisler Arena. Tawfiq Khoury, managing director of K Enterprises, a gradu ate of the College and recipient of the 1994 Engineering Alumni Society Medal, will speak.
College of Architecture and Urban Planning, 7 p.m. May 4, Power Center for the Performing Arts. One-hundred and ninety-four candidates expect their degrees.
Law School, noon May 11, Hill Auditorium. Approximately 350 graduates expect degrees. Roberta Cooper Ramo, president of the American Bar Association, will deliver the keynote address.
School of Dentistry, 11 a.m. May 12, Hill Auditorium. Antonia C. Novello, former U.S. Surgeon General and now UNICEF Special Representative for Health and Nutrition, will address graduates. Organist Marilyn Mason will provide music.
College of Pharmacy, 2 p.m. May 18, Lydia Mendelssohn Theatre. Joseph D. Williams, retired chairman of the board and chief executive officer for Warner Lambert Co., will speak.
Medical School, 4 p.m. June 7, Hill Auditorium. John M. Eisenberg, chair of the Department of Medicine, physician in chief, and the Anton and Margaret Fuisz Professor of Medicine at Georgetown University Medical Center, will speak. Degrees are expected by 203 candidates.
