Thousands celebrate spring at Pow Wow

The University Record, April 5, 1999

The Ann Arbor Pow Wow, a traditional spring gathering of Native Americans since 1972, has retained its roots in the celebration of spring. Values of honor, respect and generosity are displayed each year as Native American families gather in a combination of old and new ways that make for an exciting celebration. Thousands gather each year to participate in dance and drum competitions or to watch and marvel over costumes and contests. The March 26-28 event was hosted by the Native American Student Association and Multi-Ethnic Student Affairs, a division of the Office of Student Services. Photo by Bob Kalmbach
