Talbot appointed to Herrick Professorship
Frederick B. Talbot, professor of operations management, also will hold the Herrick Professorship of Manufacturing. His appointment, effective Jan. 1, was approved by the Regents at their December meeting.
The Herrick Professorship, established last November, was made possible by a gift from the Herrick Foundation “to foster work in interdisciplinary manufacturing education and research, and to strengthen ties between the School of Business Administration and the College of Engineering through the Tauber Manufacturing Institute,” said Business School Dean B. Joseph White and Glenn F. Knoll, interim dean of the College of Engineering.
“Prof. Talbot’s professional contributions to the field of manufacturing education and research have been outstanding. His professional achievements, research interests and academic focus make him ideally suited as the holder of the Herrick chair. He will bring much-needed knowledge and administrative expertise to our joint programs and will also bring a rich perspective to the Institute’s educational and research mission.”
Talbot joined the U-M in 1976.
