A $13 million project will expand the surgery center at Michigan Medicine’s Brighton Health Center for Specialty Care, scheduled to be completed in spring 2023.
The project, approved March 24 by the Board of Regents, would open 2,000 square feet of space, allowing for two new operating rooms and the necessary equipment, support space for clean storage and sterile processing within the surgery center.
Designed by the architectural firm Integrated Design Solutions, it also will add a supplemental air handling unit to accommodate the new operating rooms. Funding will be provided by Michigan Medicine bond proceeds.
The project is expected to provide an average of 11 on-site construction jobs. However, it won’t have any impact on parking, Michigan Medicine leaders said.
