Student tickets for the University of Michigan spring commencement May 1 at Michigan Stadium will be distributed beginning April 26.
Commencement ceremonies featuring first lady Hillary Rodham Clinton as speaker will start at 11 a.m. All persons attending must have tickets to enter the stadium.
The all-University program will be open to graduating students from all schools and colleges, but will serve as the principal commencement exercise for the the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LS&A), and the Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies. All other schools and colleges will hold their own commencement exercises in addition to the all-University commencement.
Graduating students in LS&A and Rackham graduates and candidates will receive a personal ticket and up to 10 tickets for family members and guests. All other graduates and candidates will receive a personal ticket and up to four tickets for family members and guests.
Because of the limited number of tickets available, about 50,000, the Office of University Events is asking graduating students to take only as many tickets as they need.
Tickets will be distributed 8 a.m.-4 p.m. April 26–28 in Room 17, Angell Hall. Each graduate or candidate must show student identification to receive tickets.
Remaining tickets will be distributed to graduates and candidates on a first-come, first-served basis April 29–30 at the same location. If there is a sufficient number of tickets remaining, they also will be made available to faculty, staff and the general public. Availability will be announced as soon as possible.
Parking will be limited due to Clinton’s visit. The Ann Arbor Transportation Authority (AATA) will run special commencement shuttle buses to and from local motels, the Church Street and Thompson Street parking structures, and other sites. The fare will be $1.
According to AATA, graduates and guests should be prepared for some service delays after commencement due to the anticipated demand.
Graduates and candidates who are hearing impaired or who have hearing-impaired family members or guests attending commencement may request special seating near the sign language interpreter.
Graduates and guests who use wheelchairs should contact June Bales or Laura Pavledes (998-6255) by April 29 to receive information about entering Michigan Stadium and available seating. Cars will not be allowed within the stadium gates.
Ushers will be available to help those with wheelchairs or who have difficulty walking, and will assist with the location of wheelchair-accessible seating and rest-rooms.
