Storey joins admissions office staff

Millard “Pete” Storey, director of undergraduate admissions at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, will join the U-M Admissions Office as associate director with responsibility for recruiting and marketing. He also will manage the new Frederick G.L. Huetwell Visitors’ Center.

“Pete will bring a great deal of recruitment experience, particularly in the arena of a large, selective, public university,” says Admissions Director Theodore L. Spencer. “He will be especially involved in managing programs to increase contact between faculty and prospective students, developing an outreach program that will utilize our alumni to an even greater extent, and working to enhance our ability to recruit and enroll underrepresented minorities and women.”

Storey, who has been admissions director at Wisconsin since 1991, cited his interest in a more hands-on role as well as his desire to return to Michigan as reasons for accepting the U-M position. He served the U-M Admissions Office from 1969-82, first as an admissions counselor and then for nine years as assistant director. After leaving Michigan he became director of admissions for the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1982-91.
