Staff contributions highlighted Oct. 10

“Recognition Beyond Words,” a program to honor and recognize all staff for their contributions to the University, will be held 2:30-5 p.m. Oct. 10 in the Power Center. The ceremony, hosted by staff members, will feature food, music, award presentations, and talks by Farris W. Womack, executive vice president and chief financial officer, and John Cassis, a motivational speaker best known for his work with the Chicago Bears.

The program also will be an opportunity to “publicly honor a number of individuals who exemplify the Michigan ideal,” according to Jackie McClain, executive director of human resources and affirmative action.

In addition, McClain will announce plans for a new program called “UMatter,” a way for deans and directors to recognize staff members who have done exceptional work on a project.

Awards will be presented by the Women of Color Task Force, Waste Management and Recycling, and Workplace of the ’90s.

Managers have been asked to give release time to staff members who wish to attend the event.
