Spread Ideas Not Hate

Topics:

A few hundred faculty members and others gathered at noon Tuesday on the Diag in support of the effort that has adopted the theme “Spread Ideas Not Hate.”

Provost Martha Pollack speaks with faculty members gathered for the event. She told the crowd that Tuesday’s gathering was intended as a start and that other actions, such as teach-ins and workshops, will follow.

President Mark Schlissel (right) and Regent Mark Bernstein talk to participants.

George Shirley, Joseph Edgar Maddy Distinguished University Professor Emeritus of Music and professor emeritus of music, leads the crowd in a moment of silent reflection on the past and present, and on the need to take a stand.

The pictures don’t appear show a representation of a diverse gathering.

I would like to learn more about this. Will check the Michigan Record for details. Even though I am retiree (2013) learning a way to check all the hate speech is of interest to me. Tired of what’s happening now.

OK, lets see if the University puts its money where its mouth is on 11/10/16 and today’s painting of the rock with “Kill Em All” and a picture of the Repub Elephant. Lets see what the university does to squash this hostile environment and protect the safety and the rights of the minority in this case……So much for the ‘tolerant’ left. The hypocracy is unparalleled.
