Sessions designed to help spouses, partners of new faculty start next week

A series of four free programs designed to help spouses/partners of recently appointed faculty with the transition process to Ann Arbor and the U-M begin next week.

Offered by the Office of the Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs-Personnel, this year’s program follows a successful pilot program in 1992. In addition to transition issues, the programs will concentrate on finding employment at the University.

Sessions include an orientation; a presentation on career planning and transition; a three-day job skills workshop, followed by another if necessary; and a briefing on U-M employment.

Follow-up individual counseling will be available to those who participate in the job skills workshop and will focus on job hunting strategy and potential contacts, including networking.
