Secretary of State’s office sports maize ‘nblue decor

The University Record, January 14, 1998

State, local and University officials gathered Nov. 21 for the dedication of the new Secretary of State’s Office in the Maple Village Shopping Center. Why the University interest? Secretary of State offices are being decorated with local themes, and this one sports–what else–maize and blue colors. Eventually it will include displays from the Exhibit and Kelsey museums, Museum of Art and Matthaei Botanical Gardens.

President Lee C. Bollinger (left) joined with Secretary of State Candace Miller, properly garbed for the festivities, in displaying an enlargement of a personalized version of the new Great Lakes Splendor license plate that is owned by alumnus Richard David Mintz.

Photos of campus landmarks also are on display at the office. In addition, with the assistance of instructor Mark Pomilio and a YoHA Course Community minigrant, students from the School of Art and Design will complete a mural in the spring. Photo by Paul Jaronski, Photo Services
