The university is now accepting nominations and applications for the position of executive vice president and chief financial officer.
President Mark S. Schlissel appointed a search advisory committee last month and the committee is now beginning the search process. The committee is chaired by Vice President and General Counsel Tim Lynch, and the executive search firm Egon Zehnder has been retained to assist.
The university’s CFO is one of three executive vice presidents for the university and is a key member of the U-M leadership team.
The position is now filled on an interim basis by Doug Strong, chief executive officer of U-M Hospitals and Health Centers.
According to the position description posted online, the university’s CFO leads units with more than 3,100 staff members with a budget of $800 million. The CFO is responsible for the financial affairs of the institution, its complex business operations and human resources, its extensive physical plant and its information technology infrastructure and services.
The search advisory committee is engaging with the campus community this fall to discuss the search. Lynch encourages anyone with interest in providing input that will assist the search committee to contact him directly by email at [email protected].
