Sculpture stands up to snow, sub-zero temperatures

This sculpture, in place on the west side of the School of Art and Architecture Building on the North Campus, has seen a number of winters since graduate student Hillary Shames Longhorst constructed the wood and metal piece before graduating with a Master of Fine Arts degree in 1993. But this is perhaps the most severe winter yet that the piece of art has endured, with recent temperatures below zero and winds contributing to chill factors that have plummeted to -30 degrees and below.
