Rain or shine, U-M’s Earthfest goes on. The annual celebration of all things sustainability at the university drew visitors to the Diag Sept. 23, despite the wet and chilly weather.
This year marked the return of Earthfest as an in-person event after the COVID-19 pandemic forced the 2020 Earthfest to go virtual.
More than 40 student organizations, university units and local nonprofits convened to offer resources and opportunities to get involved in sustainability operations, environmental advocacy, research and environmental justice.
Members of the campus community dodged raindrops on the Diag to celebrate Earthfest. Sushmitha Rao of Michigan Dining hands out apples to Earthfest visitors. Clark McCall of Recreational Sports talks with Summer Nguyen, an undergraduate in the School of Information, at a booth during Earthfest 2021. LSA undergraduate Sarah De Falco decorates a jar at an Earthfest booth. LSA undergraduate Maoz David Bareket spins an activity wheel at one of the booths for Earthfest 2021. An Earthfest visitor displays the event’s souvenir sticker.
