Ronni L. Sanlo of Jacksonville, Fla., has been named the new coordinator of the University’s Lesbian-Gay Male-Bisexual Programs Office, effective June 1.

Since 1987, Sanlo has served as human services program manager in the AIDS Surveillance Program Office, Florida Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services.

“I am very pleased that Ronni will be joining our team,” says Richard Carter, associate dean of students. “I feel that she will bring experience, insight and enthusiasm to this position, and will provide excellent leadership and service to both our lesbian, gay and bisexual constituency and our multicultural efforts.”

Sanlo also has served as a consultant and educator in the areas of HIV/AIDS and sexual minority issues, and has taught those topics at Florida Community College and the University of North Florida, both in Jacksonville.

In addition, she has worked as a hospital family-group therapist, a vocational rehabilitation specialist and manager, and a state lobbyist on lesbian and gay civil rights issues.

Sanlo has a bachelor’s degree in music and English from the University of Florida, and a master’s in mental health counseling and a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of North Florida.
