A revised construction budget for the proposed Angell/Haven Hall connector was approved by the Regents at their December meeting.
The Regents approved the project last April, setting its budget at $6,750,000. The new budget is $7,695,000.
“Since a number of other projects are being planned within the Angell/Haven area,” explained Executive Vice President Farris W. Womack, “the connector project offers an opportunity to consolidate these projects into a single bid, thereby achieving economy of scale, improved coordination, and minimized disruption to occupants.”
The following work will be incorporated into the Angell/Haven bid package:
— Addition of ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) work in the Angell Hall Auditorium area;
— Installing a chiller with adequate capacity to accommodate the future renovation of Haven Hall, which is not now air conditioned;
— Energy conservation items.
The University also will bid finishing the previously designed basement shell space for future use of Plant Operations.
In addition to revising the project budget, the Regents authorized the University to issue the project for bids and award a contract, providing the project is within the budget.
