Restructuring HR/AA administration prompts staff adjustments

Robert Holmes, assistant vice president for academic affairs and executive adviser for M-Quality, will become director of the Human Resources Development program in the Human Resources/Affirmative Action (HR/AA) division. Holmes replaces Sally Johnson, who will head the Consultation and Conciliation Services for HR/AA.

“Holmes’ leadership in this area will allow us to effectively integrate quality management principles throughout the Human Resource development activities of the University,” said HR/AA Executive Director Jackie McClain. “In addition, his significant experience in the area of academic administration will enhance our ability to serve the needs of both faculty and staff.”

Bonnie Chapin, Marty Eichstadt and Craig Jorgeson will be co-directors of the Benefits Office. Chapin will head systems and reporting functions in the office, Eichstadt will assume responsibilities for the daily operations within the office and Jorgeson, who had been director of the operation, will be able to spend more time with the “increasingly complex aspects of technical benefits administration,” McClain said.

“In response to Mr. Jorgeson’s request for more time to spend in that area, and in order to address the increasing level of complexity throughout the Benefits Office, we are adopting this new organizational structure, effective June 1.”

McClain said that reassessment in Human Resource Development and the Benefits Office make possible administrative changes she believes will “enhance our ability to provide services.”
