Regents salute hockey team

At last Friday’s Regents’ meeting, Regent Daniel D. Horning read a citation honoring the U-M hockey team for their NCAA championship victory. ‘We take great pride in this great team’s enduring contribution to Michigan’s extraordinary athletic tradition,’ he said. ‘This year, the team posted a 15-game home unbeaten streak for the most formidable home ice fans in college hockey.’

The Wolverine icers defeated Colorado College March 30 in Cincinnati for their first NCAA championship in 32 years. Above, (from left) assistant coach Mel Pearson and players Marty Turco, Greg Crozier, Dale Rominski and Steve Halko accepted the citation on behalf of the team.
