$14 million in private gifts accepted
The Regents accepted $14,601,556 in gifts received in September. The total included $10,402,985 from individuals, $1,430,345 from corporations, $1,773,960 from foundations, and $994,266 from associations and others.
Tenured faculty appointments OK’d
Tenured faculty appointments included:
Susan A. Murphy, from Pennsylvania State University, will be associate professor of statistics, effective Jan. 1, 1998.
Albert P. Rocchini, from Northwestern University, will be professor of pediatrics and communicable diseases, effective Oct. 17.
Administrative appointments OK’d
Administrative appointments approved included:
George R. Carignan, associate dean for graduate education and research in the College of Engineering, was reappointed associate dean for research, effective Jan. 1, 1998.
Candyce S. Berger, associate professor of social work, was reappointed assistant dean of hospital social work services in the School of Social Work, effective Sept. 1.
Jed J. Jacobson, associate professor of dentistry, will serve as assistant dean for community and outreach programs of the School of Dentistry, effective Oct. 1.
Marilyn P. Woolfolk, associate professor of dentistry, will serve as assistant dean for student services in the School of Dentistry, effective Oct. 1. She also is assistant professor of community health programs in the School of Public Health.
Pramod P. Khargonekar, professor of electrical engineering and computer science and the Arthur F. Thurnau Professor, will serve as chair of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, effective Oct. 1.
Kasdin, Raymond appointments approved
The appointment of Robert Kasdin, treasurer and chief investment officer for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, as executive vice president and chief financial officer was approved, effective Nov. 17.
The appointment of Pamela A. Raymond, professor of anatomy and cell biology, as associate provost-academic and faculty affairs was approved, effective Nov. 1.
