Reward offered

A cash reward up to $500 is being offered by U-M for information leading to the arrest and conviction of individuals responsible for a series of vehicle break-ins and thefts.

Since July the Department of Public Safety (DPS) received reports of break-ins of at least 22 U-M service vehicles parked in campus parking lots. Entry into the vehicles — mostly white vans used by Plant Operations and IT Communications staffs — has been gained through unlocked doors or by breaking windows. In an Oct. 15 report, a vehicle was stolen from a south campus lot. Most of the stolen items have been hand power tools and construction materials.

Anyone with information about these incidents is asked to call DPS at 763-1131 or the Anonymous Tip-Line at (800) 863-1355.
