Two aggravated assault reports filed, no injuries
A visiting social worker reported he was threatened by a resident of Arbor Heights Oct. 31, though no physical altercation occurred. Department of Public Safety (DPS) officers are investigating the aggravated assault complaint in which a resident threatened to hit a Family Independence Agency staff person with a chair. No injuries were sustained in the verbal exchange.
In a separate incident Oct. 22, a DPS police officer observed a female strike a man with her Chevrolet automobile in the parking lot of the Campus Safety Services Building after a heated verbal exchange. The driver quickly drove away. The man, who was not injured in the incident, explained that no one had hit him, but rather he had jumped on the hood of his girlfriend’s car. He declined to press charges and would not divulge the identity of the driver. DPS has closed the case.
Money reported stolen from residence hall room
Up to $150 was reported stolen Oct. 19 from a resident’s room in Mary Markley Hall. The resident stated she had not propped her door open, and there weren’t any signs of forced entry. DPS continues to investigate the incident.
Exercisers caught after hours
Two students are being investigated for burglary after they were observed climbing in an open window of the Intramural Sports Building Oct. 2 after the building was closed. The students were found working out in the weight room.
Football fan grabbed woman during celebration
At Michigan Stadium Oct. 30, a middle-aged man wearing Michigan State University apparel reportedly fondled the woman sitting behind him while celebrating the Spartans’ first touchdown. The woman reported the incident a short time later to police, who were unable to locate the man.
Charges denied in sexual assault incident
An East Quad hall resident reported Oct. 15 that she had been sexually assaulted by an acquaintance in her room. The Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office denied authorizing arrest charges upon review of the investigation information.
