Readings by authors Linda Gregerson, Alyson Hagy and Michael Dorris will kick off the 1994–95 Visiting Writers Series this month.
Sponsored by the Department of Eng-
lish and Borders Book Shop, the series features readings throughout the academic year of fiction and poetry by more than two dozen writers. Most readings are free to the public.
The September readings, held at Rackham Amphitheater, include:
Sept. 15 (5 p.m.): Poet Linda Gregerson, a teacher of Renaissance literature at U-M and former poetry editor at the Atlantic Monthly, has written Fire in the Conservatory, a collection of poems, and is working on The Reformation of the Subject: Spenser, Milton and the English Protestant Epic, a study of Tudor nationalism (co-sponsored with the Arts Foundation of Michigan and the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs).
Sept. 19 (4 p.m.): Alyson Hagy, who teaches writing at U-M, is author of two collections of short fiction, Madonna on Her Back and Hardware River.
Sept. 29 (7:30 p.m.): Michael Dorris, novelist and anthropologist, has written six books, including A Yellow Raft in Blue Water, The Broken Cord, The Crown of Columbus, Morning Girl, Working Men and Paper Trail.
