Photo: Institute for Social Research time capsule

As part of the yearlong celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Institute for Social Research (ISR), Provost Teresa Sullivan, third from right, joined ISR Director James Jackson, right, for a ceremony to mark the burial of a vacuum-sealed, stainless steel time capsule containing examples of the institute’s scientific work and day-to-day work life. The capsule will be opened at the ISR’s 100th anniversary in 2049. Also at the ceremony were, from left, George Alter, acting director of the Inter-University Consortium for Political and Social Research; Bill Axinn, director of the Survey Research Center; Jeffrey Morenoff, associate director of the Population Studies Center; Anna Schork, ISR associate director; Mark Tessler, vice provost for international affairs and a research professor for the Center for Political Studies, and Rowell Huesmann, director of the Research Center for Group Dynamics.
