Bill Canning, director of the Department of Recreational Sports, greets students at a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Intramural Sports Building (IMSB) Oct. 27. The ceremony recognized the recent renovations at IMSB, including the conversion of unused lockers into space for stationary bicycles, elliptical exercise machines, treadmills and weights. The goal was to bring more people into the IMSB, and it’s working, Canning says; in September, the first month after completion of the renovations, the facility had its busiest month ever. Shown here with Canning are three fourth-year students (left to right), Larnell Collier, a math major; Dennie Brogdon, a sociology student; and Jemel Hence, a math major; and Evan Spencer, a third-year psychology major.
