Photo: Dennison mural

Jim Cogswell, Arthur F Thurnau Professor and professor of art in the School of Art & Design, works on “Meanwhile, More Light,” an adhesive vinyl mural designed for the bank of windows across the ground floor of Dennison Hall. It incorporates an array of scientific images based on current astronomical research, with special focus on the work of U-M astronomers. The mural has been commissioned by the Astronomy Department for the Winter 2009 Theme Semester The Universe: Yours to Discover and the 2009 International Year of Astronomy. It will remain installed for the coming academic year, and if the materials hold up, perhaps indefinitely. (Photo by Scott Soderberg, U-M Photo Services)
